Sundays are a Beautiful Thing.

Sundays are easily my favorite day.
Church, Sunday school, lunch with friends, lazy afternoons, and Sunday Dinner with my mom.
What is not to like?

This past Sunday we had dinner at my favorite BBQ place and then headed over to Mom's house for a new fun treat... COLORED BUBBLES! I've never even heard of such a thing.
I don't know who was having more fun, the kids or the adults.
They were super, super messy, but whats a little mess when there is so much fun to be had!?

The kids spent the night with her and Hubby and I had a little date night at home.
*Sigh* I do love Sundays.

Happy, Happy Valentines Day

Happy Love Day!

I'm the first to admit that I am a Holidayholic. I get a crazy high off of celebrating holidays. I love the arts and crafts, the special meals, the traditions, the warm fuzzies that they bring to your heart, and the extra helping of love and kindness that is served to each other on these special days.

I mean, I love all holidays. Christmas, St Patties, Easter, President's day, if there is a craft that can be done for the holiday, I'm there. I'm loving it. I'm making tons of memories for our little family. I'm going just a tad bit overboard with it. And I'm loving it.

And do you know what one of my favorites of the holidays are? Valentines.
What is not to love about a day that celebrates LOVE!?
I hear people say that don't like the day because they don't have any romantic relationship going on, and I think to myself that they missed the point.
For me at least, Valentines day is not so much about romance as celebrating those that you LOVE and those who love your right back.

So today, I do celebrate my love for my husband, the mad crazy love that I have for him.
But I also celebrate the unconditional love that he and I have for our beautiful babies.
I celebrate the love I have for my parents and they for not just me, but my whole little family.
I celebrate my friends and family.
I celebrate love.

And what's not to like about that!?

We devoted this whole weekend to Valentines Day here in the Hilburn house.
Saturday night, the Hubby and I got away for the night and had ourselves a romantic getaway.
My mom kept the kiddos for us (thanks mom) and we checked into a hotel nearby. We had a fundraiser event to attend, which was SO much fun, and then we just had some time to ourselves.
We don't do things like this often, but it was so lovely and I think its important to do from time to time. Gosh, I love this guy...
Sunday, we slept in (you have no idea how nice it is to do this until you have kids!), had a beautiful brunch, and then went back upstairs to our room and... TOOK A NAP! I know, we are too exciting.

We headed home that afternoon, and although we had a blast we were both ready to get home to our babes. The day was beautiful, so we headed to the park (a staple favorite for us). Daniel was supposed to work late tonight, so we had our family Valentine's dinner that night. It has sorta become a tradition to have hamburgers and fries (served valentines style) for our V-day dinner. I like it.

The kids were so excited to have a "Valentines Party!", complete with candy bouquets and little boxes of chocolate. We vamped up the cheesy-love factor a few notches and went around the table and said what we loved most about the person to our right. I'm almost ashamed of how cheesy we are sometimes. Not really, I love every bit of the sappy-love.

Usually, the little candy bouquets would be it for their gifts. But I had several little gifts left over from here and there, so I put together little gift bags for the kiddies. They were so excited this morning to find the bags with their mailboxes.

*on a side note: There has been a balloon tide to Dylan's chair for valentines every year since he was one. We continue the tradition with Londy Lou too.

How lucky am I that this guy is my Valentine every day of the year!?
*I'm pretty sure your can literally hear sap dripping as you read this, but we really are sappy-love-bugs (not that any marriage is perfect, not even ours).

Dylan had his V-day party at school today, and for the first time ever, he wrote his Valentine's all by himself. I literally tore the little cards apart for him, handed him his class list and a pen, and let him do his thing. I couldn't believe he was big enough for this. I asked him a couple of times if he needed help, but turns out he's a big boy.

London isn't in Preschool, so she didn't need to make Valentines cards, but we did make one for her best bud, Bekham.

Dylan's class party was a lot of fun for both he and his little sister.

I get a little tickled every year at the size of his Valentines bags. I remember getting a little brown paper lunch sack to decorate every year, and even that was only half way full by the time all of my friends gave me a little card and maybe a small piece of candy. Now days, they get a full sized gift bag to house not just little cards, but small gift bags, boxes of candy, little toys, ect. I'm not complaining, I totally jumped on the train and send him with boxes of candy and gift bags every year for his little friends, it just cracks me up a little for some reason.
This pictures just cracks me up. Dylan was beside himself with excited over the Fundip Valentine that one of his friends gave to him.
It was a fun day.
Dylan requested Spaghetti and Meatballs for dinner tonight.
We don't have this often, as Daniel really dislikes the dish.
However, he had planned to work late, and I thought "Sure! Why not"
In a happy twist of events, he didn't have to work late and got to *enjoy* his (not so) favorite dish with us. We were so happy to have him home with us tonight.

I hope everyone had a beautiful and happy Valentines day and that you celebrated all the love in your life.

Here are two of mine:

Nothing to Report.

Life has been pretty uneventful lately, and that is not at all a bad thing. Sadly though, I just don't have much to blog about. I don't even have any new pictures uploaded from this week! Eeek! That is pretty rare for me.

Sunday we had a great day with family and friends. Monday my mom was so sweet to take London for the day so I could catch up on house work. London had such a good time with her Grammy and I was able to go SO FAST with my cleaning. Tuesday my poor hubby was in bed sick, so we didn't leave the house much so that we could take care of him. Today was a "snow day" and schools were closed.

I think the schools jumped the gun on closing because we were supposed to get several inches of snow but only got maybe half an inch. Seriously, you couldn't have even rolled snow ball. We didn't really even treat it like much of a snow day around here, for us it was more like a really lazy day. The kids and I did make a pretty cute snow man cake, but that is as far as our snow-festivities went. I feel just a little guilty, because I do love to make snow days feel magical, but I think the kids were fine with it.

I'm looking forward to things picking up over the next few days. And I'm hoping my hubby gets well quickly. We have super fun plans for the weekend.

Annnnnd REPEAT!

Copy and Paste. Thats what I could do to my last two post from a couple of weeks ago to describe this past week. After the snow two weeks ago, we had a beautiful weekend. I mean, BEAUTIFUL, with highs of 70s. So what else are we to do on a beautiful Saturday if not hit up our favorite local park!?

Honestly, there aren't many things I love more than cuddling up to my hubby on the park bench while we watch our babies play. My love tank is over flowing every.single.time we leave that park.

Again, this was Saturday. Sunday was equally as beautiful and full of fun and friends. Church, lunch with friends, a birthday party, and dinner at the church... a fabulous time. Monday was in the 50s and London and I spent most of the day out of the house running a few errands and just window shopping and having fun at the mall. Thank the Lord for us having Monday on the go. Why? Because Tuesday brought the craziest ice storm I've ever seen along with arctic winds and some snow. Daniel and I agreed that we are not the kind of people who should live in the North. This kind of weather is simply not for us!

The kids always love a good snow day though!

Tuesday was pretty nice. We lounged around and worked on perfecting the art of doing nothing. Everyone loves a snow day right!?
Well how about a snow WEEK!?
The temps never came above the 20s, the roads were a mess, and so schools were close the rest of the week. We are blessed in that Daniel's office also closes with bad weather. Honestly, so blessed. First of all, I wouldn't want him on bad roads, but also it was just so darn nice having him home with us.
We'll be paying back those hours in the next week, but it really was nice. I would even say it was worth it!
So what does a family do when "Snowed in" for four days? Well, on the first day we played in the snow for all of 5 minutes before the arctic winds blew us right back inside. Wednesday and Thursday we didn't even attempt to go outside, and to my surprise the kids didn't really wine about that. Instead we kept warm and dry in our warm cozy house (thank you, Lord, for that!) and enjoyed Tea Party Luncheons, coloring, reading books, playing video games, watching movies, playing, more playing, lounging, and really really working on that beautiful art of doing nothing. It was pretty wonderful, but I think by Friday we were all getting a touch of Cabin Fever.

Friday we were supposed to get more snow. The forecast said about an inch. We received about 4 inches. Thank the Lord, those arctic winds had blown over! The temp was a worm cozy 20-30 degrees, so we bundled up and gave the snow another try. This time it was much more enjoyable. Its always so fun to be outside when the snow is falling!

After about 15 minutes everyone cold it quits with the snow. The kids warmed up with a long warm bubble bath. They must have stayed in there for almost an hour!

Friday night we enjoyed a little game night with our favorite neighbors.

Saturday we were reunited with our friend, Sunshine. The kids wanted to play in the snow again. I was going to wait until later this afternoon, but decided to let them head out for bit right after lunch. I'm so glad I did because the snow was completely gone by late this afternoon. Thank you, Mr. Sunshine! How crazy is that? We are literally frozen over for four days and with 8 hours, its just melted away! We do have some patches here and there, but for the most part it just not there. I'm not complaining.

Daniel had to head to work for a bit today. The roads weren't as bad as I worried they would be. In fact, they were pretty good. It was sort of odd to be the only adult home during the day after having my hubby home with us for four days, but it was good. I was a little bit productive, the kids enjoyed the snow and another long, warm bath, and we even had an outing to Sonic anda good walk with our sweet neighbor.

Tomorrow, we are looking forward to a beautiful Sunday with friends and family, and of course watching the Super Bowl!
